Uganda: Mudoola Stays Calm

THE 2013 Nile Special Rugby League kicks off on January 12 but D'Mark Kobs coach Fred Mudoola is not about to press the panic button.

Unlike his MTN Heathens counterpart Brian Tabaruka, whose team is already training for the new season, Mudoola has let his boys enjoy the festive Christmas season.

"We have given rugby a break to focus on other aspects of life. Everybody is free to have fun this festive season," Mudoola stated.

"We should have resumed training but decided to regroup in January."

"We should have had a couple of light training sessions this month but the pitch was not available. That was beyond our control.

"It will be tight resuming training with few days to the start of the league but we won't let that stress us right now."

Kobs, who lifted a third consecutive Uganda Cup this season, will be out to stop Heathens' dominance of the league.

Leaving nothing to chance, Heathens resumed training early this month and will next week allow their team a week off for the Christmas and New Year's holiday.

The Kyadondo side faces a challenge from Kobs, Toyota Buffaloes and G4S Pirates among other for the 2013 league title.

Heathen hold the league, Eco Bank Sevens and the Kampala Sun Makerere 10s titles.
