Nigeria: Bauchi - Warder Sues Top Prison Officials

Bauchi — A prison warder has filed a suit against the Comptroller General of Prison, Assistant Comptroller General of Prison zonal headquarters, Bauchi and Comptrollers of Prisons in charge of Bauchi, Yobe and Borno States before Federal High Court, Bauchi.

The suit, which was filed by Mohammed A. Saleh, a staff of the Nigerian Prison Service Bauchi Zonal headquarters against the above mentioned officers over threat to his life after he distributed 1000 units of motorcycle loans to prisons workers at Zonal office.

The court granted the plaintiff order restraining the prison authorities from intimidating, harassing or detaining him pending the determination of the motion on notice and adjourned the suit to February 6, 2013.
