Kenya: Court Takes Pity On Senior Citizens in Assult Case
By Reuben Githinji, 22 December 2012
An Embu court yesterday spared an elderly couple a stay in remand for lack of cash bail following an assault charge brought against them by their 20 year old son.
Senior Resident Magistrate Robinson Oigara gave the 80 year old Michael Mbogo and his 75 year old wife Rose a sh20,000 free bond so they could attend court court from home.
The couple from Ndumari Village of Gatituri Location were charged with assaulting their last born son August 28 and and occasioning him actual bodily harm. They denied the offense and pleaded with the magistrate to release them on free bond.
