Rwanda: Karongi Beach Volleyball Underway

The Beach Volleyball Friends Forum and Karongi District are organising a one-day tournament whose aim is to fight against HIV/ Aids among the youth today in Kibuye town.

The event has attracted over 20 senior players in both categories namely; Pierre Marshal Kwizera, Jean Luc Mbonyewontuma Kizungu, Leon Fidel Mutesi, Flavier Ndamukunda, Alexis Nkuranga, Thierry Mugabo, Mathias Mpagoroziki, Reine Dushimimana and Patrick Banamwana.

Others include Serge Igirimbabazi, Jean Marie Vianney Nyagahima, Pascal Niringiyimana, Angelique Uwimbabazi, Brigitte Mutakwampuwe, Claire, Anne, and the pair of Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denise Mutatsimpundu who lifted the Africa Junior Beach Championship this year.

Burundi is the only foreign country invited for the tournament and they are represented by Ella Nkejarare and Bella Bwitonzi in women's category while the men's category is made up of Ivan Bruce Dukundane and Brian Mugabowindekwe who are the current Junior Champions in Africa.

Last year, Flavier Ndamukunda and Leon Fidel Mutesi won the competition was first established in the country in 2009 with Pierre Marshal Kwizera and Jean Luc Mbonyuwontuma Kizungu settling for second spot while Alexis Nkuranga and Thierry Mugabo finished third respectively.
