Rwanda: Women Football League Starts

The 2013 Women Football League has been confirmed to start on January 12, according to Rwanda's football house, Ferwafa.

The commissioner in charge of women football, Felicite Rwemalika said this week that she expects a more competitive women football league this season.

"We don't have any new team joining the league, it's only 11 clubs which will again take part in the league compared to last season," added Rwemalika.

The new season calendar will be spiced up by eleven teams namely; defending champions AS Kigali, Remera Rukoma, Les Lionnes, Esir, GS Rambura, APR, The Winners, Urumuli rwa Nyarugenge, Bugesera, Imirasire and Inyemera.

AS Kigali, which is sponsored by Kigali City, has dominated local women football, winning the last four season trophies on expenses of rivals APR who have only managed to lift the league title once.
