Zimbabwe: Macheso's Latest Album Receives Mixed Reactions

Seasoned guitarist, songwriter and composer Alick Macheso has put out a new album, "Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure)" which has received mixed reactions from fans with some saying it was a half-baked project while others say it was another masterpiece from the king of sungura.

However, one of Macheso or Extrabasso's long-serving members, Jonas Kasamba, said there were no hard feelings over the sentiments.

"We are happy with the debate that has been generated since the launch of the new album. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we greatly appreciate it," he said.

To ardent fans of the Orchestra Mberikwazvo, the album is as good as it gets especially now that it has triggered a lot of excitement around the dance routine called "Kochekera".

The dance craze has taken over the music scene by storm in the same way Psy (pronounced as Sai) has done on the international scene with his chart topper "Gangnam Style."
