Nigeria: Electricity Workers Insist On N500 Billion Severance Package

Lagos — Electricity workers under the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has said that the total gratuities and pension of the workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) is over N500 billion.

General Secretary of the union, Comrade Joe Ajearo said at a media forum in Lagos at the weekend that the N170 billion federal government earmarked for the workers was grossly inadequate.

He said the N170 billion couldn't represent the true gratuities and pension of the workers of the Power Company of Nigeria, many of whom have put in several years of working experience in the company.
