David Kimaiyo has been sworn in as the first Inspector-General of Police by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga at the Supreme Court. Parliament approved Kimaiyo's appointment as IG last week.

Kimaiyo is later expected to visit the Tana Delta where over 40 people were killed in fresh clashes between the Pokomo and Orma communities. Internal security minister Katoo ole Metito and his PS Mutea Iringo are also expected to accompany him.
