Nigeria: Sadanji Unity Cup Sponsor Wants Al-Makura's Support

The sponsor of the Sadanji Annual Unity Football Cup tournament in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Sadanji has pleaded with the Governor of Nasarawa State Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to support the youth competition which is targeted at discovering hidden talents.

The sports enthusiast said for now, the Sadanji Unity Cup is competed for among the local government councils and Development Areas of Nasarawa State but has the potentials of going national, if given the necessary support.

The Turaki of Lafia noted that bank rolling the Sadanji Unity Cup which is in its 7th edition has proved beyond any doubt his zeal and commitment to uniting the people of Nasarawa State by using the power of football.

Alhaji Sadanji therefore stressed that if the Governor renders the fatherly support expected of him, apart unifying the state, the competition would produce players for the state and the nation.

He said: "We have been doing this on our own. My commitment to this youth tournament is my own little way of contributing to peace and unity in the state.

"My dream is to take this championship to the national level. However, for this to be possible, we need the support of our sports loving Governor, Alahji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

"He is doing so much in the area of youth empowerment and I believe this is another opportunity to reach out to the youths".

Meanwhile, the tentative kick off date for the 7th edition of the competition has been fixed for January 2013.
