Egypt: Qalyubia Results - 60 Percent With Constitution, 40 Percent Against It

Final ballot results show that in Qalyubia 60 percent (512, 065 people) have voted for the new draft constitution while 40 percent (344, 753) have voted against it.

The total number of votes in the governorate was 871, 291, with 856, 803 valid.

The second round of the referendum on Egypt's new constitution took place on Saturday, December 22, whereas the first round took place last Saturday.

Preliminary results of the two-stage referendum show that the majority of Egyptians agree to the controversial charter that was written by an Islamist-dominated assembly.
