Nigeria: Arrest of Firework Sellers At Nyanya

Police detectives yesterday stormed a roadside market at Nyanya bus stop to arrest sellers of firework with their wares.

A woman carrying a baby on her back and holding rockets firework was shocked when they were snatched from her and destroyed.

As the woman tried to find explanation for such action from the policemen on mufti, one of the detectives carrying a whip, ordered that she be arrested but was left alone after some members of the public pleaded with them.

Our reporter who was at the market observed as the detectives combed round the market searching items of people selling Christmas decorations. The discovered firework in the items of one seller and arrested him.

It will be recalled that as a result of security challenges facing the country, the police has warned on the sales and use of firework during the festive season.
