Cabinda — About 1,789 defendants, from a total of 1,476 lawsuits filed in the year 2012, were formalised by the Attorney-General Office in the northern Cabinda Province.

The information has been given recently by the Cabinda Province's Public Prosecution Department head, António Nito, at a meeting that served to make an assessment of the institution's activities in this province throughout this year.

The official said that in the present year, the Attorney-General Office formalised 1,069 criminal lawsuits, 391 of which were submitted to the Provincial Court, besides other cases that were summarily decided.

The official also mentioned 41 cases submitted to the Minors Court and 240 labour disputes.

For the year 2013, he said, the Attorney-General Office will be more strict with the fulfilment of the deadlines in remand cases.
