IMAM BABA LEIGH is supposedly released by the NIA but is not at theRoyal Victoria Hospital, the Police Headquarters, the Central Prisonor the NDEA.
Even the Islamic Council is not aware of what he has done to bearrested. He has gone with his transport which is yet to be returned.Foroyaa does not want to raise any alarm but it is not normal for thismassive publicity going on without any response from the state ineither releasing him or taking him before a court. In short, no oneshould be detained for more than 72 hours without being taken before acourt or released.
If a state wants to show defiance it would in factacknowledge that the person is in custody but would not release him asdictated by law.In this instance, no state agency is accepting responsibility forholding Imam Baba Leigh. We strongly recommend for the family membersto approach the Inspector General of Police, The Director General ofNIA and the Director General of NDEA for the last time to officiallyfind out whether Imam Baba Leigh is with them or not. If the answer isin the negative then they should officially conclude that Imam BabaLeigh has been abducted by people operating outside of the ambit ofthe law and should therefore formally report his abduction anddisappearance to the police for investigation and action to catch hisabductors. The case would then more away from that of arrest tokidnapping. We hope that if he is under arrest, as many believe, he would bereleased with immediacy.
