Officers of the Thinker's Village R2 Old Timers Association commonly known as TRO2 have been inaugurated to steer the affairs of the association. TRO was established few years ago in Thinker's Village along the Monrovia Robertsfield Highway to undertake community service, promote peace and unity among the residents of the community.
Delivering his keynote address at the induction ceremony recently, the King of Soccer, Ambassador George Mannah Weah, encouraged TRO officers to remain united as one body and continue to teach the children in a way that when they grow up they wouldn't depart from it.
Amb. Weah told his colleagues that love for one another is paramount in uniting the people of that community and that it is important to promote a person who wants to bring peace to the community than to vilify him. Amb. Weah then urged TRO officials to respect the elders and work toward the promotion of education and cultural values for the young people.
For his part, the President of TRO, Mr. Isaac Lloyd promised his team mates that peace, unity and reconciliation will be the hallmark of his administration. Mr. Lloyd announced to the public that TRO's executives have reached a decision to dedicate the month of December to the children of that community because they are the precious jewels of the society.
Also speaking was the chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Mr. George Solo. Mr. Solo also cautioned the team members to be peaceful and demonstrate respect for one another. He wants TRO's officials to ensure that every child in that community goes to school for the betterment of the country.
TRO and Weah All Stars (WAS) had a friendly encounter on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Oppong Sports pitch opposite the Baptist Seminary. The game ended with a 2-0 victory in favor of Weah All Stars (WAS). The game brought together hundreds of spectators to witness former stars of the national team (Lone Star).
Those elected to serve the association include; Isaac Lloyd-President, Trosteen Mokollie-Vice President, Leaid Stephen Zeyoe, -Secretary General, Ernest Knightly-Financial Secretary, Paul Lamin Social Welfare Chair, Aaron Kollie, Captain and Rev. James Kingsley-Goodwill Ambassador.
