Uganda: Lawmaker Arrested Over Nebanda Statements

Police have arrested Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko following several hours of besieging his home.

The MP has been taken to Special Investigations Unit at Kireka where detectives want him to record a statement in relation to allegations he made that the Government killed Butaleja Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda.

Two anti-riot police vehicles spent the morning at Nsereko's home located in Old Kampala.

The Police were later joined by the anti- terrorism squad which, by press time, had started breaking into the MP's house.

Other MPs on Police wanted list include Chris Baryomunsi and Thoedore Sekikkubo.

Police Spokesperson Judith Nabakooba explained that MPs are wanted following their allegations that the Government had eliminated Nebanda.

"We want them to give us more details over their remarks that the Government killed MP Nebanda."

Nebanda was buried in Butaleja on Sunday.

MPs who flocked Nsereko's home include Mike Mukula (Soroti Municilaity), Gerald Karuhanga (Youth Western) and Medard Ssegona.
