YOUTH and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili on Saturday escaped unhurt when his official vehicle overturned in Mpika in Muchinga Province.

Mr Kambwili who was with his three daughters was on his way to Kasama in Northern Province where he was expected to present cheques to successful applicants under the Youth Development Fund (YDF).

Muchinga Province Minister Charles Banda said Mr Kambwili, his three daughters and driver, Moses Daka were treated at Chilonga Mission Hospital in Mpika.

"The doctors said they are out of danger except for shock and a tissue problem on Mr Kambwili's left hand. They left around 05:00 hours today (yesterday) for the Copperbelt," he said.

The vehicle, which was extensively damaged, overturned on Kasama road about 23 kilometres from Mpika after the driver failed to negotiate a corner.

Mr Banda said Mr Kambwili was given another Government vehicle to travel back.

Mr. Kambwili was on the tour of Northern and Muchinga provinces to handover cheques to some deserving youth groups under the revised YDF programme.
