Egypt: Clashes in Upper Egypt Following Death of Police Officer

Confrontations erupted at a village in upper Egypt on Monday following the death of a police officer and the injury of another in revenge clashes between two families.

The victim was killed during an attempt to disperse violent scuffles between residents earlier on the day.

Further confrontations broke out when police officers marched in protest to the residence from where the shots were fired earlier.
