Algeria: Culture a 'Weapon' to Fight for Freedom, Independence - Minister

El Ouadi — The Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi said Sunday that culture is a weapon and mean of fighting for freedom and independence, in a speech during the opening ceremony of the Saharawi Republic Cultural Week taking place from 23th to 27th December 2012 at El Ouadi, Algeria.

The Minister described this cultural week, a part of series of Saharawi cultural weeks along the Algerian territory, as a "bridge" to continue solidarity and cultural exchange between the two brotherly peoples of Algeria and Saharawi Republic.

The opening of the festival was also attended by the Algerian Minister of Culture Ms. Khalida Toumi, who, along with her Saharawi counterpart Ms. Khadija Hamdi, oversaw the opening of the event.
