Nigeria: Rep Tasks FG On Infrastructure

Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives Mukhtar Ahmed (PDP, Niger) has called on the Federal Government to assist state and local governments with the provision of infrastructure.

Speaking in Suleja at the weekend while flagging off his NTA community station project and rehabilitation/turn-around maintenance of Suleja Dam, Ahmed said facilities in Suleja were being overstretched by the large population of people majority of whom work in the Federal Capital Territory.

Ahmed, who noted that he presented a budget of N450 million to the National Assembly for his constituency projects, said the turn-around maintenance of the Suleja Dam gulped N245 million; the Madalla water reservoir, N200 million; and the construction of the NTA community station, N240 million.

Speaking at the NTA site, Emir of Zazzau Suleja, Mallam Muhammadu Ibrahim said: "Suleja depends on NTA Abuja. We want to be part of Niger State with this type of privilege, therefore, we hope and sincerely pray that this project will facilitate our being part and parcel of the overall coverage of Niger State."
