Nigeria: Christmas - Jonathan Urges Nigerians to Imbibe Message of Christ

As Christians celebrate Christmas worldwide, President Goodluck Jonathan has admonished Nigerians to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.

The president in a Christmas message to the people of the country reminded the citizens that irrespective of their religious inclinations, the lessons from the life and times of Jesus Christ cover all mankind and should be seen as a signpost for spiritual rebirth and national progress.

The President noted that the humility, selflessness and other noble virtues that were exhibited by Jesus Christ during his life which have remained in practice after his death are worthy of emulation by Nigerians in order to move the country forward.

President Jonathan stated:"I greet and felicitate with you all as we join the rest of the world in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah many years ago in Bethlehem".
