Sudan: SRF Darfur Says It Detained Deputy Commissioner Golo

El Fasher — The Sudan Revolutionary Forces (SRF) say they have captured other government controlled areas in the surrounding of Golo in Central Darfur of Sudan. It detained the deputy commissioner of Abdejaber Wadi who was appointed by the government of Khartoum.

The man was wounded, but according to the SRF spokesperson, he received proper medical treatment. According to Mustapha Tambur of the SRF, his rebel movement will abide by the Geneva conventions for war situations. The SRF has noticed that the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) are reinforcing and preparing for a counter attack to recapture Golo. This important village in Central Darfur has been taken by the SRF of Abdel Wahid on Sunday 23 December. The SAF abandoned their base. Despite severe bombings, the SAF was not able to regain the lost territory.

Previous reports by Radio Dabanga counted tens of soldiers being killed, the victims belonged to the SAF and SRF. The SAF declined any comment
