Libyan government officials and civilians gathered at Martyrs' Square in Tripoli on Monday (December 24th) to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the country's independence, Libya Herald reported.
General National Congress (GNC) President Mohamed Magarief addressed the crowd, calling on Libyans to remember "the men and the leadership of the independent state created in 1951", who had been omitted from the history books during Moamer Kadhafi's rule.
