Sudan: Border Guards Kutum Try to Shoot Sudan Army in North Darfur

El Fasher — Tension between the army and government border guards killed two soldiers and injured four today, (Wednesday 26 December) in Al Misserya neighborhood in Kutum town in North Darfur. The shooting took place around five o'clock afternoon, Radio Dabanga reports.

The border guards tried to escape from the area with two cars but the army started to chase the attackers. They tried to catch the border guards while they were moving in the northwestern part of Kutum. They started to exchange fire while the citizens were seeking cover in their houses.

They closed all the shops in the Kutum-market. Kutum has become a militarized zone after the killing of a commissioner in Kutum district.

The prosecutor and court are dis-functioning, while the military have taken all the security positions in the area.
