Angola: Distribution of Boats Increases Fish Catch

Luanda — The distribution this year of 32 boats for continental fishing enabled to increase the levels of fish catch in the municipalities of Quissama, Icolo e Bengo and Cacucao (Luanda Province), revealed Wednesday the provincial director for agriculture and fisheries, Júlio de Carvalho, however without mentioning the concrete figures.

Júlio de Carvalho said that since January 2012 the distribution of boats benefitted over 21 fishing associations.

He informed that this initiative is part of a programme dubbed "Development and Improvement in the Fisheries sector".

For the year 2013, he said, one of the main projects of his sector is to create a Centre for Integral Support to Artisanal Fishing, which must include an ice production unit and cold-storage chambers.
