Angola: Huila Governor Offers Toys to Orphan Children

Lubango — About 129 children who reside in the SOS shelter centre, outskirts of Lubango City, in the southern Huila Province, last Tuesday benefitted from a donation of toys and foodstuffs made by the provincial governor, João Marcelino Tyipingui.

Besides toys, the governor also took food for the Christmas party, with a view to showing the government's commitment to the Eleven Commitments to Children.

"We could not celebrate Christmas without spending some time with children that live in shelter homes, so we brought some gifts here, which may help to bring some joy and well-being in these children", explained the governor.

João Marcelino Tyipingui also explained that the provincial executive of Huila will continue to provide support for children, so, in view of this commitment, there is a programme to build schools, medical institutions, as well as rehabilitation and community centres.

On his turn, the director of the SOS shelter centre, Artur Daniel, commended the gesture of the provincial executive in celebrating Christmas with orphan children.

He appealed to other institutions and individual persons in the province to extend extend a similar solidarity gesture to children.
