Zambia: Bandits Rob Patrons, Rape Two Women in Kasama

BANDITS in Kasama have robbed patrons K2.5 million cash and later raped women at two guest houses.

Northern Province police chief Mary Chikwanda confirmed that bandits stormed two guest houses at different intervals and robbed patrons before raping their partners.

Ms Chikwanda said the criminals, who were armed with a pistol, staged robberies at two different guest houses in Kasama at the weekend.

She said two patrons were forced to surrender K1.3 million and K1.2 million each before the armed gang took turns in raping their female companions after threatening their lives.

She has since appealed to members of the public to be on high alert and report any suspicious looking characters to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Ms Chikwanda said the police have intensified patrols in the province in a bid to maintain law and order during this festive season.

She urged motorists to observe traffic rules and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol to avoid causing accidents.

Ms Chikwanda advised members of the public to celebrate Christmas in a responsible and peaceful manner.
