Kaduna — The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Garba Wahab, has reiterated that the Nigerian Army is not out to witch-hunt anyone.
The GOC, who spoke at a decoration ceremony of seven of its newly promoted officers at the 1 Div officers mess in Kaduna yesterday, lamented that Kaduna is not the town it used to be with regards to security.
"The Nigerian Army is not out to punish or witch-hunt anybody, I cannot just wake up one morning and demand for the arrest of a particular person. If we are not sure of our facts, we don't go anywhere to perform our operations.
"For the average person that knows Kaduna in the past, he will realize that this is not the same Kaduna of before, at times one feels like crying to what is happening in the state, this was a town that people could go out as late as 2 am but now it's no longer possible.
"In those days I used to leave Kaduna as late as 8 pm on my way to Maiduguri because of how safe the northern region was, but nowadays, if you travel by 7 pm to Wudil in Kano State you will meet with trouble on the way," he recalled.
