Liberia: President Sirleaf Sends Condolence Message to Kenya

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has extended a message of condolence to the Government and People of the Republic of Kenya for the death of at least 30 people who died during clashes between rival family communities in the Tana River District of the Kenyan Coast.

President Sirleaf, in her message to the Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, also expressed profound regrets and deepest sorrow for 30 other Kenyans that were seriously wounded as well as 40 houses that were set ablaze as a result of the tragic incident.

The Liberian Leader, on behalf of her and the Liberian people, extended to President Kibaki and through him to the Government and People of the Republic of Kenya, as well as the bereaved families, heartfelt condolences for the irreparable loss sustained.

"During this mournful period, it is our fervent prayer that your government and the affected families will overcome this tragedy. It is my hope and prayer that the rival parties will exercise restraint and see peace and unity as the best option for your great country", President Sirleaf remarked in her message.
