Having toured the United States of America, Liberian gospel diva, Eveine Natt Kamara, says preparations are far advanced for the holding of a free thanksgiving gospel musical concert on New Year's Day at the open-air Sports Commission on Broad Street in Monrovia at 2pm.
The Diva's manager, Pastor Moses Kamara, told this paper that the concert is intended to thank the Almighty God for his bountiful blessings and protection over the artist during the years.
Mrs. Kamara is also expected to use the January 1, 2013 concert to launch her Rural Scholarship Program intended for students in the interior of Liberia. The scholarship program is under the auspices of the Eveine Natt Kamara Foundation.
The artist hopes that her fans, philanthropists and gospel and education lovers will grace the free concept and support her rural scholarship initiative.
"I know what it means to walk for an hour to get to school. So, come and send one student to school with what you have," the artist has said on her Facebook page, which is already attracting several comments of support and appreciation.
Commentators say the artist's initiative is geared towards complimenting government and partners' effort to providing access to education in Liberia, especially rural parts where economic situation of parents and guardians there have compelled many children to drop from school and subsequently becoming breadwinners of their respective homes at the detriment of their future.
It is the view of these commentators that such initiative should be hailed and adequately supported by all, including those in government, non-governmental organizations, education and children-rights advocacy groups and private individuals in augmenting diva Kamara's effort towards children education in the interior.
