Angola: Police Record Two Deaths By Car Accidents in Christmas Eve

Luanda — The Traffic Police in Luanda Province recorded in the night of Christmas Eve 25 road accidents, which resulted in two deaths and one person seriously injured, ANGOP has leant.

Speaking to ANGOP, in Luanda's Ingombota district, the commander of the Luanda Traffic Police, António Pinduka, informed that 24 of the occurrences were running-over cases and one collision of vehicles.

According to the police officer, the main causes behind the accidents are excess of speed and drink-driving.

António Pinduka also explained that the causes behind the running-over cases are mainly the fact that most of the victims were drunk and careless in the streets, even crossing the road in inappropriate places or manner, such as not passing by the zebra-crossing or the foot-bridge over a motorway.

According to the official, in comparison to the same period of last year, there was a decrease in accidents and deaths.
