Nigeria: Army Loses Seven Officers in Road Mishap

About seven army personnel lost their lives, yesterday, at Abaji near Abuja when a truck ran over them. The officers were among those that were to take part in the graduation ceremony of the 8th Basic Counter Terrorism Training conducted by the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora.

Some of them were reportedly returning to their base in the South when their chartered bus developed mechanical faults and in the process of repairing it a truck ran into them and killed seven of them.

Confirming the story, the Chief of Staff in the Department of Army Public Relations, Col. John Agim said that the department was still awaiting the details of the accident but expressed regret that those officers were returning to their base from Kontagora where they were trained.
