Nigeria: Kebbi Director Wants Private Sector Involvement in Sports Development

The Kebbi Director of Sports, Alhaji Usman Ladan yesterday appealed to corporate bodies, individuals and other stakeholders to support the development of sports in the state.

Ladan in an interview in Birnin Kebbi that Public/Private collaboration is the fastest way to develop sports.The former Secretary of the state's Football Association added that government cannot develop the sports sector all by itself.

He said school sports and inter-local government competitions would be revived, adding that the state government would work closely with council Chairmen to encourage the youths to develop their talents and be able to represent the state.

Ladan disclosed that sports associations would be given targets and challenged to produce results by organising competitions in order to improve the standard of sports in the state. "We will also accord priority to the training and re-training of sports administrators and coaches," he added.
