Angola: Police Record Over 100 Road Accidents in Five Days

Luanda — The National Police recorded in the last five days 195 road accidents that caused 35 deaths and 172 injured, ANGOP was informed on Thursday in Luanda's Ingombota district.

According to a member of the national department for road safety, linked to the General Police Command, commissioner Carlos Salgueiro, Luanda Province leads the figures for the mentioned period with 80 accidents, 18 deaths and 50 wounded.

After Luanda, the next province with the highest number of road accident cases is Benguela, followed by Huambo and Huíla.

The main causes behind the accidents are excess of speed, drink-driving and disrespect foer the traffic rules, as well as lack of caution from passers-by.
