Ado-Ekiti — The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Ekiti State University has accused Governor Kayode Fayemi of underfunding the state-owned institution.
Chairman of the union, Dr Ayan Adeleke said at a press conference yesterday that the government was still releasing the sum of N210 million to an institution with a monthly wage bill of N400 million since the merger of the three universities that were existing before the advent of the governor's administration.
Adeleke said the school would soon go into extinction if nothing is done to rescue the institution.
But the Commissioner for Information, Funminiyi Afuye dismissed the ASUU position saying government was not denying the University of funds.
Afuye said the present government had built more structures adding that the university is now better in terms of standard and conducive environment.
