Zambia: ABU Rates Four Boxers

ONLY four Zambia boxers, who include former national heavyweight champion, Francis 'Galagata' Zulu, have been rated by the African Boxing Union (ABU).

According to the ABU December 2012 ratings, Zulu has been ranked 10th in the heavyweight division with Egyptian, Ahmed Samir being the top contender for the vacant continental title.

Veteran DR Congo heavyweight, Matamba Postolo was shockingly ranked fifth just below his compatriot, Flo Simba.

Middleweight boxer, Stephen Chungu, himself a former national champion, has been rated 12th in his category where South African, Christopher Buthelezi is the top seed.

In the welterweight division, Zambia's Pathias Kambembe is ranked sixth with Nigerian, Wale Omotoso being the top contender for the belt held by Sou Toke of Burkina Faso.

Lightweight, Nelson Banda was seeded 13 in the division whose defending champion is Keith Nkosi of South Africa with his compatriot, Viwe Mdletyeni being the first contender.
