Gambia: Mamburay Njie Seeks High Court Bail

Mamburay Njie, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thursday 27th December 2012 appeared before the High Court of Justice in Banjul, seeking High Court bail.

During yesterday sitting before the vacation Judge, Justice Abdulahi Mikailu, the applicant counsel L.S Camara moved a motion in support of the affidavit filed on behalf of the Mamburay Njie seeking High Court bail.

The State / Respondent, DPP, S.H Barkun informed the court that he would have argued in response to the submissions made by the applicant counsel, but was however told by his superiors not to object or opposed bail. DPP Barkun pointed out that the State is yet to file an indictment against the applicant.

Meanwhile, the presiding Judge Justice Abdulahi Mikailu adjourned the matter for ruling on the 31st December 2012.
