The Nda Mariam Jagne Family Foundation, a charity organisation founded by the wife of Pa Modou Jagne (Nda), a Gambian football star has been formally introduced to the Gambian leader, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh.

In a letter sent to President Jammeh introducing the Foundation, Pa Modou Jagnefondly called Nda said the charity organization was founded by him and his wife Ndey Mariam Jobe, a former Face of Africell contestant and Women's Bureau staff.

The letter reads:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to introduce to you the Nda Mariam Jagne Family Foundation, a charity organization founded by my wife Ndey Mariam Jobe, a former Face of Africell contestant and Women's Bureau staff and my humble self.

As a proud member of the National Team, I currently play in the Swiss First Division team of FC Gallen.Mr President, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for the excellent support that Your Excellency and the entire government has provided and continue to provide to the national team members that have allowed me to reach this level in my career. It is no doubt that the enable environment that you have created for us sports professionals over the years has helped me reach this level.

Mr President, my wife and I believe we have been fortunate and it's our duty to give back to our country. This culture of giving back is the driving force behind our decision to form the Nda Mariam Jagne Family Foundation.Because of our firm belief that 'No Woman Should Die Giving Life', the Foundation will work with the main aim of improving the provision of maternal health services especially in impoverished communities in The Gambia.

As a way of encouraging the youths of The Gambia to stay in school despite their dreams of becoming professional footballers, I will personally spearhead one of the Foundation's side projects aimed at encouraging the concept of scholar athletes. This project will focus of holding summer camps/football clinics and mentoring programs that will work on developing talent while emphasizing the importance of a strong educational background for athletes.

It gives me great pleasure to inform you, and through you, your entire cabinet that the Foundation will be launched on Friday December 21st, 2012 at 9.00am at the Paradise Suites Hotel.

A football clinic will also be organized to teach school children basic football skills and bring them closer to their national team stars and other local celebrities. This event will take place on Saturday December 22nd, 2012 at 9.00am at the Father Gough Football Field in Manjai.

Mr President, I want to take this opportunity to once again renew my pledge the Gambian people to work hard to reach higher heights in my career and also continue to challenge myself and others to give back to our communities. My family and I thank you for the enabling environment and leadership, and count on your continued support.

God blessed The Gambia.

Pa Modou Jagne
