Kenya: Tourist Found Dead At Diani Beach Resort

POLICE in Ukunda are investigating an incident where a middle-aged man suspected to be a German tourist was found dead at a Diani Beach resort in Kwale.

The tourist was found dead outside the Mzima Beach Cottages yesterday morning, seated under a shed with a rope around his neck.

Msambweni division police boss Jack Ekakoro said they are yet to identify the nationality of the slain tourist whom he described as "having a physique of a German".

Ekakoro dismissed claims of a possible murder saying investigations are underway. He said the rope suggests that the man committed suicide. A security guard at the cottages discovered the tourist's body when he reported to duty at around 6.30am.

"I saw someone seated as if he was reading a novel. I went out to check as we usually inspect all the sheds every morning. It was then that I realised the man had a rope around his neck," said the guard. The man's clothes were wet and had a cut on his left leg, right arm and at the back of his neck.
