Kenya: Western Branch Complains About Poor Use of Funds

Football Kenya Federation officials have blamed CDF officials in Kakamega County over misuse of funds meant to promote sports in the constituencies.

Western branch FKF chairman Andrew Amukowa and national executive committee member Elly Mukolwe claimed CDF money has apparently been re-channelled into funding political campaigns.

"After realising that CDF money was being used to sponsor tournaments with politicians' names, we banned political tournaments and asked politicians to sponsor FKF organised tournaments in their respective constituencies" Amukowa said.

Speaking at Buchenya sports ground during the final of the Butere FKF tournament sponsored by aspiring MP Julius Matendechere alias Masero Mayia, Amukowa also called on members of the public to monitor the use of devolved funds to ensure it is not mismanaged by politicians.
