Kenya: Father of Five Children Found Dead At Korogocho in Court

The father of five children who were found murdered in Nairobi's Korogocho slum a week ago will take plea next Tuesday. Boniface Ouma appeared in court yesterday but was not formally charged pending further investigations into the case.

Ouma is accused of murdering Elizabeth Achieng, Wycliffe Odhaimbo, Melvin Ateino, Walter Otieno and Moses Ochieng on the night of December 19 and 20 at Korogocho slums in Kariobangi North.

The state through lawyer J. Gichuhi told the court that since the mental assessment has not been done and the postmortem of the children was incomplete, they should be given one more week before he takes plea.

She also requested the court to have the accused remanded at Muthaiga police station and an advocate be assigned in order for him to take plea on the said date.

High court judge David Majanja directed that the Deputy Registrar appoint an advocate for the accused and that he be remanded at Muthaiga police station as requested by the state.
