Tanzania: TASWA Members Attend AGM

AT least 100 members of the Tanzania Sports Writers (TASWA) countrywide will today attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Kiromo View Resort in Bagamoyo district, Coast region.

TASWA Secretary General, Amir Mhando said all was set for the meeting, saying top on the agenda will include a Financial Report for a year 2010/2011, code of conduct, development report and entrepreneurship skills.

Chairperson of the Support National Youth Soccer teams win Committee, Ridhiwan Kikwete will officially open the meeting this morning, while the Director of the Tanzania Information Services (Maelezo), Assah Mwambene is lined up to officiate at the closing ceremony in the evening.

Mhando said Kikwete has been invited to open the meeting because he is a good friend of TASWA, while Mwambene, a former sports writer with the 'Daily News' will offer an opportunity to discuss professional issues with the members..

They will also use the occasion to impart the members with entrepreneurship skills after which they will seek to commission members to trigger a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Saccos).

"We have invited experts from Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies so that they can explain to us on the importance of forming Saccos and how members will benefit," said Mhando.
