Kenya: DJ Republik Celebrates Doctors and Nurses

As the nurses' strike entered its fourth week with the registration of their union not in sight, nurses still had something to cheer about last Saturday, courtesy of DJ Republik.

The deejaying crew hosted a party as a tribute to the medical profession. The doctors and nurses forgot all their worries and danced the night away at the Vineyard Restaurant in Westlands, Nairobi.

The event, dubbed Doctors and Nurses Edition, had been planned for at least three months.At least 300 guests dressed in doctors' and nurses' attire attended the event.

The participants sipped drinks from syringes and drips donated by various hospitals in Nairobi.Dj Republik manager Kalekye Mumo told Word is, "The event is a sign of appreciating the medical profession. It is not all about the money; there's a fun side to their world. Despite the recent strikes, they can also value themselves."
