THE semi final match of the Abeneneko Ekirapa Cup tournament between Kamuriai and Amagoro FC ended prematurely on Thursday when a referee was attacked by irate fans.
Class Three referee Anthony Emure suffered neck injuries before he was rescued by players and FKF officials led by Teso sub branch chairman Moses Imai and match commissioner Boaz Magwa.
Magwa rushed to the nearest DOs office where Administration Police officers were dispatched to quell the fracas which had threatened to mar the cultural event.
Kamuriai player, Shadrack Emorut displayed true sportsmanship when he led other players in evacuating the referee to the dressing room as fans bayed for his blood.
Amagoro were leading 2-1 at the time with ten minutes to the final whistle. Boniface Muchiri scored a brace while Kamuriai's consolation goal was netted by Jacob Ekwi. Emure said the incident started following a vicious foul.
