Kenya: Mandera Leaders Ask PS to Stop Sale of Council Plots

Mandera residents have asked Local Government PS Karega Mutahi to reverse the sale of 4,000 plots by council officials despite a ban by the ministry.

Led by Abdi Noor, a parliamentary aspirant, the locals claim council officials are obtaining money from residents to allocate them plots in Shaffi and Bula Mpya.

The officials allegedly use backdated documents to disregard a Cabinet memorundum that stopped land allocations early in the year."Interested land owners pay as much as Sh800,000 to the officials despite the ban of by the plot allocations the establishment of the of the National Lands Commission," Noor said.
