Kenya: Road Carnage Drops By 60 Percent

NAKURU Road accidents in Nakuru have reduced by 60 per cent since the the new Traffic Act took effect in December 1, area police boss Bernard Kioko has said.

"Before December 1, we had accidents involving vehicles and boda boda operators almost daily," said Kioko.He said full road discipline will take time to be restored as matatus continue to ferry excess passengers and stop at undesignated areas.

The Traffic Amendment Bill 2012 was introduced to curb the rise in road accidents stipulates hefty penalties to offenders.
