KILIFI county commissioner Erastus Ekidor has assured the public of their security during the festive season."We want to make sure that everyone enjoys his holiday in Kilifi. We have beefed up the security in Malindi and other areas near Tana Delta so that the clashes going on there do not affect our county," Ekidor told the Star in his office yesterday.
He added that plain clothes police officers have been deployed to back up the Tourist Police team in the beaches to ensure the safety of holiday makers.
Ekidor said most of the hotels are on a 24-hour security surveillance to keep "evil-minded" people from disrupting the peace. He added that there has been no security hitches in the area during Christmas.
"Our security team is always alert to avert any security threat. This is our mandate and we must make sure we do not fail Kenyans" Ekidor said.
