Kenya: Nyeri Mob Kills Arrowroot Thief

A suspected arrow-roots thief was yesterday lynched by a mob in Mukurwe-ini district in Nyeri.David Mwangi, 33, had just uprooted arrow-roots worth Sh2,000 when villagers descended on him with rungus and pangas killing him on the spot.

His body was later burnt by the angry mob after the 3am incident at Mihuti village. Mwangi intended to sell the loot 30km away in Sagana. Area police boss Adiel Nyange said the suspect is a well known and notorious criminal who has been terrorising residents by stealing their arrowroots.

Nyange however warned wananchi against taking the law into their hands.Arrowroots are in high demand this festive season.
