Today marks one of the key milestones for the 29th Edition of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations to be held in South Africa from 19 January till 10 February 2013.
The announcement of the South African national team squad by the National Team Coach, Gordon Igesund, to participate at this ultimate soccer tournament on African soil, with only 21 Days remaining, signals Bafana Bafana's official entry, as the host nation, in the tournament.
The LOC welcomes the announcement of the final 23-person squad and soccer fans can now expect a vigorous and exciting competition in celebration of African football: after all this is all about football and the beat at Africa's feet.
We, as the Local Organising Committee, have put in place plans that will ensure that every team is provided with the necessary environment and conditions conducive to compete equally for the coveted trophy of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
With the announcement of the final Bafana Bafana squad by Coach Gordon Igesund it is now up to the soccer fans to go out there in numbers and witness what we envisage to be the most competitive and exciting Africa Cup of Nations of all times.
We recently also announced Special Packages that will cater for individual needs of soccer fans who want to follow their teams. For instance, Bafana Bafana supporters can now purchase all of the Bafana Bafana's group matches both at the National Stadium in Johannesburg, and at the two matches Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban at R189 (Category 1), R162 (Category 2) and R135 (Category 3). This will also apply to all other soccer fans that want to follow their favourite teams.
Furthermore, soccer fans can allows also purchase stadium packages, which will allow them to watch all matches regardless of the team they support at that stadium.
Those who have purchased their tickets already can now go collect them from eQtickets and Selected Spar Outlets and Host City stadiums. We are therefore urging every soccer-loving African to get behind this Tournament, and for South African in particular to rally behind Bafana Bafana and fill up the stadium to show their support Orange AFCON 2013.
To Coach and the team, Good Luck!
