Egypt: Presidential Advisor Urges Early Registration of Expatriates for Next Elections

Presidential advisor Ayman Ali has called on the elections commission to open the door for Egyptian expatriates to register their names in preparation for the next parliamentary elections.

In a Facebook post, Ali said such early step will allow more Egyptians abroad to cast ballot, citing that their turnout in the previous elections was low due to short time given to them for registration.

Ali appealed to other bodies concerned including the Foreign Ministry to help issue national IDs for expatriates through official commissions to be dispatched to the countries where they live.
