Nigeria: Rising Stars FC Wins Governor Lamido Cup

Dutse — Rising Stars Foot Ball Club of Birnin Kudu Local Government of Jigawa State yesterday won the sixth edition of Governor Sule Lamido Cup after beating FC Moscow with 4-2 in a final match held at Birninkudu Stadium in Jigawa state.

Speaking at the grand occasion for the presentation of trophy to the winners Governor Lamido expressed his happiness for the peaceful conduct of the players during the competition and the performance of all participating clubs.

Lamido said he initiated the competition to bring unity among the youth and use the sport for the physical and spiritual fitness of the younger generation, adding that he will continue to support the competition and all sports activities to enable youths from the state compete with other athletes in Nigeria and the world at large.

Speaking to journalists shortly after receiving the trophy, coach of the wining team Alhaji Ibrahim Isiyaku thanked Governor Lamido for adding colour to the competition by personally gracing the occasion along with his deputy and virtually all his top government officials.
